The Chronicles of Oaska:
The Story of Karase
(prologue)

For many years the federation and planet of Oaska has been at war with the Cyras people. Under the leadership of the newly appointed leader, Karase, the federation has had many victories. Karase is young at the age of 14 however is a powerful soldier who leads his army in battle along side them. He constantly reminds his soldiers of his belief. “Fight like there is no tomorrow, remember that there is no such thing as forever, just today, and do not let your sacrifice go to waste.”

So now our strory begins as Karase is leading his unit to battle. “The traitors shall fall! Fight with all your might!” he yelled “They are traitors to the federation!”

“SIR! Here they come, over the horizon” Napal told his captain.
“Too many for us four to combat alone, we need air support.” Reks suggested.

“Very well, so let the heavens rain down upon them, destroying every last hope they have. Only then shall they see.” Karase said.

“The heavens, sir?” asked Napal.

Yes, the heavens. In a bloody bath of chaos. They shall pay for their treason.” responded Karase.

“Yes sir! Preparing for full aerial assault!” Reks said. “Attention Oaskan Air Force(O.A.F), we are requesting full air support. Requesting the aid of the Heavens Air Force Base Squadron!”

“So it begins… Prepare for battle!” commanded Karase.

“LONG LIVE OASKA!
LONG LIVE THE FEDERATION!
DEATH TO CYRAS!”

…and so concludes the prologue.

Chapter 1

“You acted with out word from the senate!” shouted head of the Oaskan senate, Killas Gregor. “Excuse me, but this is MY country. Besides, had I not acted our main forces would have had another unit to deal with” Karase responded. “What was your unit doing in that quadrant anyways, Karase?” asked Killas. “It’s general to you! We were on patrol, just my four elite soldiers and I.” Karase said. “You know you’re not to act without permission from the senate!” Killas said. “Screw you and your senate!” Karase shouted. “You know damn well our military AND our country would be a much better place without it!” he continued.

“Karase…”

“General!”

“Excuse me, general, you cannot speak of such things, you could lose your position!”

“MY POSITION?  It’s not my position I’m worried about! It’s my country! Your damn senate is preventing me and my military from acting as we need to! Hell, if it was up to me, I’d get rid of the senate all together”

“Well it’s not your call, so there’s nothing you can do about it!”

“Go to hell!” Karase said as he walked out of the senate chamber.

“Sir, how did your court mar…eh um…meeting with the senate go?” asked Reks. “The senate needs to be dealt with, but not now. Right now we have a bigger problem. The units placed in the northern quadrants are being overtaken by Cyran insurgents. Their military will be soon to follow. Get our men over there as fast as we can. Afterwards gather the unit and meet me in the armory, I have something to show you. We will deploy to the northern quadrant as well shortly after.” Karase said. Reks did as ordered while Karase headed for the armory. He was not disturbed on the way over there. Most people in the Oaskan military know that Karase is not usually in the best of moods after he meets with the senate. Only his unit can talk to him after these “meetings” and he not get mad. Once Karase got so mad at the senate that he drew his pistol at Killas. Since then Karase has not been allowed into the senate chamber armed.

Once in the armory Karase had begun preparing the equipment for his unit. This is usually the job of some low ranked soldier. However today was special for his unit’s equipment, besides Karase didn’t mind doing it. Had the soldier not insisted, Karase would be doing this every day.

When his unit arrived in the armory Karase was pleased to see their surprised faces. “Lady and gentlemen, I’d like to present to you the new PA-4 plasma assault rifle.” Karase announced. “Sir, these things aren’t even supposed to exist!” shouted Myste. “Does the senate even know about this?” asked Rillad. “No, and you’re not going to tell them, are you?”

“NO SIR!” they all said at once. “Good” said Karase. “Sir, with this we will dominate the battlefield. Most of the enemy’s army still uses metal projectiles…as does ours.” Reks commented. “How did you come by these?” asked Napal. “Well as open as I am on these things, I’m afraid I can’t tell you. The fewer who know the better.” answered Karase.

“Now then, now that we are all acquainted with the new equipment, we must head to the northern quadrant. Most of our forces are already there, we must go there and aid them.” Karase ordered.

When they arrived, they were surprised to see the vast numbers of the enemy insurgents. “We won’t be able to defeat them all, we must force them to retreat” Karase said. Quickly they ran into the center of combat, gunning down enemy after enemy.

The Oaskan Special Forces (O.S.F.) consists of 20 members, four in Karase’s very own unit. All of them were currently in battle with the rest of the military. They are the best soldiers the Oaskan Armed Forces has to offer. They are the pillar of strength of the entire Oaskan military. The O.S.F. are even trained to fight with swords in the event guns are un-acquirable.

“We need air support!” shouted Karase. “Air support is unavailable” responded Reks. “What do you mean it’s unavailable?!” shouted Karase “Well…the senate kinda banned us from calling for air support since the last skirmish we had, and all nearby air force units have been deployed on sorties. It would take at least half an hour for air support to arrive.” Reks said. “Damn Senate!” Karase yelled. “We won’t be able to last much longer here like this!” he said. “We’re running out of options sir!” Myste shouted. “Then it’s time…”Karase said. “You know what to do, inform the rest of the O.S.F. of our decision” he ordered. At once all 25 members of the O.S.F. transformed into their demi-forms, their half demon forms. In this form they are at their most powerful state. It is said that Karase alone in this form can take down entire armies. Karase and his unit immediately started slaughter each and every one of the enemy insurgents, so much so the enemy began retreating after witnessing such great power. At the end of the battle, they reverted back to their normal forms.

When they returned to base, they found that the senate had locked them out. “What’s going on? Why’s the door locked” asked Myste “The senate” said Karase. “What? Can they do that?” asked Reks. “Not while I’m around!” Karase said angrily. Karase stormed off to the senate chamber. When he arrived they tried to disarm him. “Sir, please stop while we disarm you.” said the chamber guard. “Out of my way!” Karase yelled. He merely pushed them out of the way and burst through the chamber doors. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” yelled Karase. “You are hereby restricted from any military action until further notice.” responded Killas. “What?! Are you that stupid?! Oaska will fall under enemy control if you do this!” shouted Karase. “You failed to abide by our laws!” responded Killas. “You’re a fucking idiot! Your laws are doing nothing to help Oaska! As acting commander-in-chief of the Oaskan military and President of the Oaskan Federation I hereby declare the senate an enemy of Oaska! I will remove the senate from their position, by force if necessary!” Karase declared “You can’t do that! You don’t have the power to do so!” Killas shouted. “The public will not ask questions and without you I have total control over our government.” Karase said. “And what of the Oaskan Council? They will have you arrested!” Killas yelled. “The council has always hated the senate, they will welcome me as a hero.” Karase said.

“Napal, Reks, escort these men to the prison, if they resist, you are authorized to use any force you deem necessary” Karase ordered. “You can’t do this Karase!” yelled Killas. “How many times have I told you, it’s general, and I just did!” Karase responded.

“Now with the senate removed from their position we will be able to advance our military at a more rapid pace. We will win this war at any cost!” Karase said. “Do you really think that no one will ask questions about the missing senate?” asked Myste. “Don’t worry if anyone asks, they tried to kill me.” Karase told her. “Gen…Karase, you’ve never done this before. You’ve never been this kind of leader.” She told him. “I must do what is necessary for Oaska.” Karase said. “Is it really all for Oaska? Sometimes I wonder Karase, sometimes I worry your power goes to your head.” Myste said. “You need not worry about me.” He told her. “No, I do. I love you Karase, and it pains me to see you like this.” She said. “Would you rather see me in a coffin?” Karase asked. “Sometimes I feel like that is where this is heading. Karase, do me a favor.” Myste said.

“Yes?”

“Tell me you love me.”

“I love you.”

“Thank you.”

“Do me a favor, please.”

“Anything.”

“Don’t die on me.”

“You know I can’t promise you that.”

“I know, but do you have to be so honest?”

“I thought that’s why you love me.”

“Not the only reason.”

“Well I’ll try to stay alive, for you.”

“Thank you, however I will not ask you to leave my unit.”

“And I will not leave; I will remain at your side.”

“And I at yours.”

“Does anyone know about us?”

“None, do you worry?”

“No, I just…”

“Just what?”

“Nothing”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing” Myste said, and with that she walked off toward her room.

“Hmm…I wonder” Karase told himself.

Exactly as Karase had predicted the public had asked no questions of the senate’s arrest and the Oaskan Council had praised him for eliminating the senate from their position. Oaska’s military was then able to operate more freely and more efficiently. But as Myste had feared, power was going to Karase’s head. With the senate gone, he answered to no one, meaning he could do whatever he wanted. However the removal of the senate was necessary for Oaska’s victory. But in battle Karase was getting reckless. With each and every battle they won his ego grew bigger. He thought he was invincible, and likewise he got more and more reckless, making too many mistakes. Myste did everything she could to protect him in battle. She was ready to die for him. She did not fight for Oaska, though she did not want Oaska to lose. No, she fought for Karase, and nothing else.

If not for Karase she would not be in the military. Though she is saddened by Karase’s change in behavior, she continues to fight next to him. She is worried, though, that if he continues like this he may put Oaska before her. She worries that he may forget about her. She is a strong powerful warrior who earns her place in Karase’s unit. However at the age of 15 many don’t believe that she even belongs on the military. She wouldn’t be if not for Karase. The only reason she remains is because Karase is only 14, and he commands the entire military and governs the country. They had grown up together, and they fell in love shortly before he was appointed leader of the Oaskan army and of the Oaskan Federation.
